There’ll be an American feel at the Winston-Salem Open during Thursday night’s quarterfinals from the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

The NextGenATP flag will be flying high with the young stars filling out the night matches.

Alex Michelson, who will turn 20 on Sunday, and Lerner Tien will both be on the Stadium.

In the first match at 6:30 p.m. it will be Michelson taking on Chris Eubanks in a truly All-American match. Soon after that match Tein, will take on Pablo Carreno Busta, who Wednesday night became the winningest player at the Winston-Salem Open racking up number 18 after defeating Aussie Aleksanadr Vukic in three sets..

There are three Americans in the quarterfinals at the Winston-Salem Open.

Tien continued his dream debut week on the ATP Tour by becoming the youngest American tour-level quarterfinalist since Brandon Nakashima in 2020 at Delray Beach. The 18-year-old cruised past Thiago Seyboth Wild 6-4, 6-3 on Wednesday night.

Michelson said he came into this week in good form and is excited where his game is at this point.

“I've been playing well the last couple weeks,” he said after Wednesday’s win in the third round. “The last match I lost was to Jannik (Sinner), so I feel like I'm playing pretty well right now.”

In the afternoon matches it will be 15th-seeded Pavel Kotov against 10th-seeded Lorenizo Sonego and 16th-seeded Rinky Hijikata, a former player at North Carolina, against David Goffin.
